Dear Delegate
On behalf of the Organising Committee, I am pleased to invite you to INFACON XII to be held in Helsinki, Finland, in 2010.
The INFACON Congresses, held since 1974, have brought together people from different areas of ferroalloys industrial and scientific community, to discuss and to share information on latest innovations in the field.
In Helsinki, we will focus on sustainability within the ferroalloys industry. The ferroalloys industry has experienced fast developments and growth in recent years. The rapidly growing demand of ferroalloys, increasing costs and awareness of the need for sustainability are calling for new innovations. Sustainable production with better management of natural resources and energy, material lifecycle management as well as other environmental challenges and opportunities are wished to inspire authors and experts of this field to new ideas, innovations and views to be shared in Helsinki.
It is also the desire of the Organising Committee to bring together experts from various fields of ferroalloys. Fundamentals, technological developments and industrial practises are essential for the construction of new production units and for improving of existing plants as well as for advanced operation and process control.
I believe that the theme “Sustainable Future” will bring into discussion new developments and ways for the ferroalloy industry to meet the future challenges.
INFACON XII will continue the successful tradition of previous INFACON Congresses. The Organising Committee, Program Committee and the persons involved in organising INFACON XII are committed to ensure that the Congress will be not only scientifically rewarding but also socially enjoyable. Informative post congress tours will be arranged to interesting plant sites. During the Congress and post congress and sightseeing tours delegates will have an excellent opportunity to get to know Finland and have memorable moments in the land of midnight sun, archipelago and thousands of lakes.
Let us participate and explore together the technical opportunities that the Congress will provide, and be inspired both by the ever-excellent INFACON spirit and by the pristine Finnish nature.
