ACCOMMODATION

The local congress secretariat has made block reservations for HDR 2008 participants in selected hotels within convenient location to the congress venue. The special rates are valid only for reservations made through the secretariat.

To make a hotel reservation, please use the on-line registration form (choose the navigation button "Registration and accommodation reservation"). Reservations will be accepted on a “first-come, first-served” basis with incoming requests. To increase your chances of obtaining accommodation in the hotel of your choice, kindly fill in your on-line registration form as soon as possible. Late reservations cannot be guaranteed and will be subject to availability. Your reservation will be confirmed after Congreszon has received your registration and the hotel deposit.

Hotel deposit:

To guarantee your hotel reservation a deposit of one night’s room rate is required. The deposit should be paid together with the registration fees. Without deposit payment you will risk losing your reservation.

The deposit will be deducted from your hotel bill when checking out. If you need to cancel your reservation, please refer to the cancellation and refund policy:

Room rates are per room and night including breakfast (except Hostel Academica) and value added tax (VAT).

Special rates apply in the following hotels for reservations made through the online registration form. If booking a room for two persons please be sure to give the names of both; otherwise it will be assumed that you are occupying the twin room alone and you will be charged accordingly.

Scandic Hotel Continental

A hotel with unique architecture by the sea, in a converted warehouse. Only a short walk from the city centre. Market Square and other city sights, with good tram connections to the city centre and to the congress venue. Tram no 4 to the central railway station 7 minutes and to the congress venue, Biomedicum, c. 15 minutes

Room rates per night: single room 98 €, twin (superior) 170 €

A hotel with a warm atmosphere located in the centre. Within 10 minutes walking distance from the train station. The restaurant of the hotel is specializes in Finnish homemade dishes during lunch time. Good tram connection to the congress venue, Biomedicum.

Hostel Academica

Address: Hietaniemenkatu 14, Helsinki

Room rates per night: single room 55 €, twin room 69 €

A summer hostel close to the city centre about 1.5 km from the congress venue. The metro, train and bus stations are only a short walk away. Rooms are with cooking facilities.

Cancellation policy:

• cancellation received by 30 April 2008, full refund less administrative costs of 20 €
• cancellation received on or after 1 May 2008, no refund will be made

There is no extra fee if when cancelling a participant’s reservation, another person from the same organisation is replacing the cancelled person.
