Turku

Turku has a population of about 175,000. It is Finland’s oldest town with a history that goes back to the 13th century. Turku is situated at the mouth of the River Aura, some 165 kilometres west of Helsinki.

Turku is a fascinating combination of both old and new. Turku has everything for the modern urbanite, but also for tourists interested in the treasures of history. Turku offers skilled and educated workforce, modern municipal engineering, good international connections and flexible services for companies and businesses.

City life is focused around the river, on whose banks some of the most interesting sights, including the Turku Castle and Finland's national shrine, the Turku Cathedral, are situated. The Old Grand Market Square, the site of the declaration of Christmas Peace every year, is also located by river Aura.

Modern Turku and the lush countryside and fabulous archipelago surrounding it are sights to behold in terms of landscape. In addition, there are plenty of prominent monuments and other treasurers pleasing to the eye and the mind alike.

Travel connections:
There are frequent rail, bus and flight connections between Helsinki and Turku. Trains take about two hours and run every hour. There are several daily flights between Helsinki and Turku and the journey takes about 35 minutes. There are also daily flights between Turku and Stockholm and between Turku and Copenhagen. Turku Airport is served by Finnair, Finncomm Airlines and SAS/Blue1.
